Post Aruba N.V. opened its exhibition “25 years of stamps of Aruba” to commemorate 25 years of Aruba’s Status Aparte
On Tuesday January 18 last, the first exhibition in relation to the celebration of 25 years of Status Aparte in Aruba was opened with a philatelic exhibition “25 years of stamps of Aruba”, which took place in the Postal office of Oranjestad.
Traditional Caha di Orgel music was playing as the guests arrived. At 7 o’clock the Aruban national anthem was played to inaugerate the event. The director of Post Aruba NV, Mr. Kees van Nederkassel, made mention of the importance of this event for Post Aruba after which he gave the platform to Prime Minister Mike Eman who gave a speech before the official opening.
Mrs. Jennifer Kock, Head Marketing & Philatelie of Post Aruba, told a story about how the postal services began and the necessity for creating stamps.
Members of the Council of Ministers and Parliament, the committee Celebration 25 years Status Aparte, artists who create stamps and other invitees were present to witness the offical inaugeration that was effected by Lieutenant Governor H.E. Mr. F.J. Refunjol, after which everybody was invited to go inside to look at the exhibition and for the reception outside under the enjoyment of
harp and guitar music.
The exhibition shows how the postal service of Aruba entered the Status Aparte as an autonomous service in the Royal Kingdom, how Aruba introduced her own stamps, which were the first two series that were issued and how to make a miniature work of art such as a stamp. Also were shown the three issues in relation to the introduction of Status Aparte, the complete collection of local stamps that were issued in the past 25 years, as well as some original artworks.
Everybody has the opportunity to come see the exhibition at Post Aruba in Oranjestad until March 18, from Monday through Friday from 7.30am till 12.00pm and from 1.00pm till 4.30pm.
